Bayern Munich grab a late goal against Manchester United to take the 3-2 advantage back to Germany

Manchester United faced Bayern Munich at Old Trafford this evening ( 25th Match ) at 8pm. This is Manchester United's first time in the UEFA women’s champions league quarterfinals, but Bayern Munich have been here multiple times over the last couple of years so coming into this game they are the team with more experience. Both teams are missing players due to injury.

The game ended in a 3-2 win to Bayern Munich but it definitely wasn’t easy with both teams battling it out. Goals came from Pernille Harder and Momoko Tanikawa for Bayern Munich, and Maya Le Tissier and Lundkvist for Manchester United. Bayern Munich head into the second leg with not only the home advantage but also a 3–2 win. The attendance at the game under the lights was 7,513.

First half:
In just the second minute of the game Harder gave Bayern Munich the 1-0 lead, scoring early against the team she supported growing up. Caruso sent a gorgeous ball through to Harder who was then battling against Manchester United captain Le Tissier, but she managed to put it in the back of the net giving Bayern Munich the lead early on.

Manchester United was struggling to get the ball past Bayern Munich's back line during the first 10 minutes, they’ve had one shot so far and the ball went safely into the hands of Mahmutovic. In the 10th minute Tullis-Joyce had to make another save after a shot from Gwinn. Bayern Munich were looking better at attacking than United at this point in the game
During the 17th minute United had a corner from which they managed to have a few shots, one being from Park but it was blocked and then Le Tissier had a shot after the rebound of the block, but this shot went over the bar.
In the 20th minute Bayern Munich we awarded a free kick just outside of the box, this looked a dangerous position for them to have a free kick and could’ve possibly made it 2-0 early on in the game, Gwinn sent the goal into the box but no one managed to connect properly with the ball meaning no goal and a goal kick for Manchester United
In the 24th minute, Manchester United was awarded a handball by Viggósdóttir. Le Tissier stepped up to take the penalty, and she slotted it into the net meaning the score is back level.

During the 33rd minute Malard had a great shot but it didn't make it past Mahmutovic,as she caught it safely, stopping United taking the lead. United seemed to create a lot more chances as the game went on, definitely an improvement to the first 10 minutes.
Schüller had her first shot of the game in the 39th minute against her former team, the shot ended up going wide. Not long after (41st minute) she had her second attempt of the game, Mallard sent the ball into the box and Schüller managed to header it but it didn't land in the back of Bayern Munich's net.

Second half:

During the 61st minute United were back, showing they can create chances, Mallard sent in a great cross but there was no one there to create anything from this cross. Just a minute later Lundkvist took a shot but it went over the bar, another great effort from Manchester United.
Harder was through on goal in the 71st minute after a great ball from Amani. Harder was yet again battling with Le Tissier to try and get Bayern Munich their lead back, she took the shot and it went past Tullis- Joyce and into the back of the net.

During the 76th minute, Manchester United had a corner, Le Tissier took and a GOAL for United by their number 5 Lundkvist, bringing the score back level again.

In the 83rd minute, Tanikawa brought back the lead for Bayern Munich, after taking a great shot, she is recent Asian cup winner with her national team Japan and now she has given Bayern Munich their lead back in the first leg of this champions league quarter final.
