This weekend, Liverpool host Brighton in the semi-finals of the Adobe Women's FA cup. This fixture will take place at the Brewdog Stadium and kick off is at 12:15 BST. Both teams will be fighting for a spot at Wembley Stadium. Last time these two teams faced each other in March and ended in a 0-0 draw.

Recently Brighton have been showing their ability as a team drawing and even beating some of the top team. Brighton's last game was a mid week fixture against Arsenal in the WSL, Brighton was the first to score and Arsenal seemed to be struggling but before half time Frida Maanum scored bringing the score-line back equal, no more goals were scored in this game meaning it ended in a draw but it also meant that Manchester City have now won the WSL.

Brighton helped Manchester City secure the WSL title by taking points from Arsenal but Brighton managed to beat the league winners at the end of March. On March 25th Brighton showed that although they sit in the middle of the table they do have the skills to beat top teams, the game ended 3-2. After this game Brighton played Manchester United where again they nearly beat United but Lea Schuller put the ball in the back of the net in the 90+4’ minute meaning they shared the points.

Brighton have definitely shown that they are a team people underestimate, and they do have the ability to beat the top teams.

Liverpool last faced league winners Manchester City in the WSL where they managed to keep the score line level until Rebecca Knaak got Manchester City the three points in the 90+1’ minute, Manchester City were the favourites to win this game as Liverpool sit 11th in the league but Liverpool managed to fight until Manchester City found a break through in the last minutes of the game. Before this Liverpool were beaten 1-0 by West Ham, after an own goal by Cornelia Kapocs.

Overall I think these two teams have shown that football is unpredictable. If you don’t have tickets to this game, you can watch the game live on TNT Sports and HBO Max to find out who will be playing at Wembley on the 31st May.
