The Women's Euros 2025 just wrapped up, and let me tell you, it was a rollercoaster of emotions, epic goals, and unforgettable moments. From nail-biting finishes to underdog stories, this tournament had it all. So, grab your favourite snack, settle in, and let's dive into a recap of the highs, lows, and everything in between from this year's tournament.

Diving into the group stages, we saw some dominant performances right off the bat. In Group A, Norway charged ahead, securing the top spot with a flawless record, winning all three of their matches. Group B witnessed Spain, the reigning World Cup champions, dazzle fans with an impressive goal tally and top the group. Sweden mirrored this success in Group C, also clinching three victories to secure their place at the top. Lastly, in Group D, France showcased their resilience and skill, setting a high bar from the get-go. Alongside these group winners, each group also had a runner-up that advanced to the knockout stage:
Switzerland from Group A, Italy from Group B, Germany from Group C, and England from Group D, all ready to battle for their spot in the next round.
The quarter-finals definitely didn’t disappoint! There were some seriously nerve-wracking matchups. Italy edged past Norway with a 2-1 win, while England scraped through against Sweden after a tense 3-2 penalty shootout. World Cup champions Spain showed their class with a solid 2-0 victory over hosts Switzerland, and Germany battled it out with France in a dramatic shootout, eventually winning 6-5. That set up a stacked semi-final line up with Italy, England, Spain, and Germany all booking their place…and let’s just say, the drama was far from over.
Straight into the semi-finals, the tension just kept building. Italy went head-to-head with England, and after a hard-fought battle that went into extra time, it was the former European champions who came out on top, winning 2-1 and becoming the first team to book their spot in the Euro 2025 final. The next day, it was Germany vs Spain, another tight game that also went to extra time. But once again, Spain proved why they’re the reigning World Cup champs, clinching a 1-0 win.
And that’s when it hit fans, coaches, players, everyone. England and Spain were set to meet again in a major tournament final. History really does have a way of repeating itself. It was a full-circle moment: a rematch of the 2023 World Cup final, and the stakes couldn't be higher.
The WEURO25 final was everything fans had hoped for – and more. England vs Spain, a rivalry that’s been building over the years, finally reached boiling point. You could feel the tension from the very first whistle. Both teams came out with serious intent, playing with heart, grit, and a whole lot of skill. It wasn’t just a game; it was personal. With chances at both ends and some standout performances, it kept everyone on the edge of their seat. In the end, after back and forth, added time and then penalties, Chloe Kelly scored the winning penalty and wow…it’s something to remember. England came out on top, sealing their place in history. A final to remember, and a huge moment for the women’s game. They then officially became European Champions 2x in a row.
We think each and every player stood out during this tournament, everyone gave it their absolute all and played fantastically. There are key players like Lucy Bronze who announced in an interview after the final that she played the whole tournament with a fractured tibia. There’s Aitana Bonmatí who came back only less than a month before from a serious illness. There’s Angharad James who captained Wales to their first major tournament. The list goes on and on, but every player showed their dedication and played to the best of their ability.
