Alanna Kennedy announced her departure from Manchester City after 64 appearances with the club and won the league cup. This was announced on Tuesday night.
Many fans had guessed that the Australian centre-back was leaving the club days before. This was due to Kennedy being out of the squad for the Manchester derby on Sunday evening.
The Australian international has signed a one-year contract for Angel City in LA, trading the WSL for the NWSL. “I am really excited to join Angel City and return to the NWSL.” Kennedy said, as she previously played for Orlando pride.
However, Manchester City accidentally leaked this news out to the public in a farewell Instagram post before they were supposed to.
In Alanna's Instagram post, she posted her farewell message; “Manchester has been my home for the past 3 years and I’m leaving with a lot of amazing memories.”
From Angel Cities side, their sporting director Mark Parsons is looking forward to the future with a star player on the team, “her international experience with Australia coupled up with her ability to play in multiple defensive oppositions, makes her a versatile addition to our roster. We look forward to seeing her contribute to the culture and success of Angel City.”
