So far, only four transfers have been considered a “done deal” however, there

are also plenty of rumours to discuss.

On the very first day of the transfer window, Manchester City signed 28-year-

old German defender Rebecca Knaak from FC Rosengard until 2026. Knaak

spent three seasons at Rosengard where she won Damallsvenskan’s

Defender of the year award as the Swedish team only lost once all season.

On the 3rd of January, Tottenham signed 23- year-old midfielder Olivia Holdt

from FC Rosengard util 2027. This signing has been considered as “much

needed” in order to raise Spurs’ place on the WSL table.

On the 4th of January, the Spanish midfielder Martina Fernandez joined Everton

on loan from FC Barcelona until the end of the 2024/25 season. Fernandez

won the Champions League with Barcelona last season along with

both of the Spanish domestic leagues.

On the 7th of January, Scottish midfielder, Emma Watson also joined Everton on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.

It is rumoured that Irish international forward Emily Murphy has interest from

both the WSL and Championship and has reportedly turned down offers from

US teams.

Liverpool are reportedly interested in having Bayern Munich’s Sam Kerr on

loan and have been since 2022. Kerr joined Bayern in the summer of 2023 on

a three year deal and the Scottish midfielder has made 13 appearances so far.

Many fans are happy to hear the rumour of well-loved Lioness Kiera Walsh

potentially signing for a WSL club from FC Barcelona. Arsenal put a bid a

record breaking amount for her in the summer transfer window which was

declined by Barcelona.

Ingrid Engen is another rumoured transfer from Barcelona but there is very

little information from sources on where she could potentially be moving to. This could

suggest that she’s waiting for the summer transfer window.

Lotte Wubben-Moy is getting a lack of minutes for Arsenal due to multiple

injuries in the start of the season meaning that her place in the Euro 2025 England squad is not

secure. Many people believe that this January transfer window will be a good chance

for her to go on loan in order to get more minutes to perhaps get more caps

and minutes for England.
