West Ham United have confirmed the signing of Wales international Ffion Morgan on a free transfer, with the 25-year-old joining on a two-year deal. She makes the move to London following the expiry of her contract at Bristol City.

Morgan will wear the number 23 shirt for the Hammers in the upcoming 2025/26 Barclays Women's Super League season.

"I'm buzzing to be here," said Morgan. "I'm a versatile player and can adapt to different positions. I have a lot of energy, I'm quick and can create chances for myself and my team. I like to be given the license and the confidence to express myself, and hopefully I can show that in the famous Claret and Blue."

"I'm delighted to welcome Ffion to West Ham United," said Skinner. "She is an exciting talent with a hard-working attitude and a willingness to defend from the front. She is tenacious and has the ability to create and score goals, which she showed in abundance at her previous club."

Life After Bristol City.

Morgan spent four years at Bristol City, making 89 appearances and scoring 15 goals. She played a key role in the club's 2022-23 FA Women's Championship title win and was named the Supporters' Player of the Season for 2024-25.

Capable of playing at full-back, wing-back, or further forward, Morgan offers valuable versatility. Whether defending deep or pushing into the final third, she adapted well to multiple systems.

While not a traditional winger, Morgan consistently contributed in attacking areas. Defensively, she held her own in one-on-one situations and showed strength in recovery runs - qualities that helped her compete effectively in the WSL against top-level opposition. These are just some of the qualities Bristol City will miss following her departure.

Her exit was confirmed at the end of June, and her move to West Ham marks the next step in her career as she continues to compete at the highest level of the women's game.

What Ffion Brings to West Ham.

Morgan is known for her versatility - equally comfortable playing as a full-back or further forward. She brings pace, strength, and technical quality, making her a valuable addition to Rehanne Skinner's squad.

Although she has primarily been deployed as a full-back or wing-back in recent seasons, there's a strong case for Morgan to be used higher up the pitch at West Ham. With her well-rounded skill set, she could potentially become a regular starter for the Hammers.

International team.

Having made her senior debut for Wales in 2017, Morgan has earned 43 caps and scored two goals-both during the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 qualifying campaign. She has represented her country at every youth level and remains a key figure in the senior squad.

Morgan recently featured for Wales at the UEFA Women's Euro 2025, where the team exited at the group stage. She played in all three matches, operating in her usual role in the backline. In a particularly tough fixture against England, she worked tirelessly, covering ground defensively despite limited attacking support.

While Wales were eliminated with zero points and a 13-2 goal difference, Morgan remained a steady and dependable presence under intense pressure - offering defensive stability in a difficult tournament.

What This Move Means.

This signing signals intent from West Ham, who are aiming to build momentum after a challenging campaign. Morgan's energy, experience, and leadership qualities could provide vital as the club looks to climb the WSL table.

It's a big move for Morgan, and a welcome return to the Women's Super League. She's a significant addition for West Ham - bringing quality and versatility at both ends of the pitch. Fans will be eager to see what she can bring to Rehanne Skinner's side in the upcoming season.
