Aston Villa travel to St Helens for a 14:00pm kick off on Sunday 30th March 2025 against sixth place Liverpool for Women’s Super League Matchday 18.

Last time in this fixture:
In November 2024 Liverpool came away with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa due to a brace from Taylor Hinds. Despite a 49th minute strike from Gabi Nunes, Liverpool came out on top at Villa Park.
In this fixture last season, Liverpool beat Aston Villa with a 4-1 win. Strikes coming from Grace Fisk, Sophie Roman Haug and a brace from Emma Koivisto. Will Villa’s first visit to the new stadium be a positive one?
How have the teams played this season?:
Liverpool currently sit sixth in the league having just come off the back of a heavy 4-0 defeat against Arsenal. However, on a positive note, their last home game was a victorious 3-0 win over Manchester United and Liverpool have had a great run in this seasons FA cup. They are through to the semi-final where they will face Chelsea in the upcoming weeks.
On the other hand, Aston Villa haven’t had the best season and sit tenth in the league with only one point between them and the relegation zone. With relegation battle rivals, Crystal Palace, seemingly finding some form, Aston Villa are in need for a crucial win. Having been defeated 3-1 by Crystal Palace in their last game, Villa are seeking a strong win to secure them safety. So who will come out on top ?
Who to look out for?:
Overall, both teams have had very different starts to the season but what players should we be keeping an eye on? Firstly, Olivia Smith has had a great start to her first season at Liverpool scoring some amazing goals including a recent brace against Manchester United. On the other hand, Villa have some strong players as well including Rachel Daly and Anna Patten. However, we should focus on ex - Liverpool players Missy Bo Kearns and Miri Taylor. Both players had a very promising time at Liverpool, with Kearns being a crucial player in helping her childhood teams promotion from the championship. So how will these players impact the game against their former club?
Where to watch?:
