Leicester made one change from the Arsenal battering 5-1 as Chantelle Swaby was named in the starting line-up to replace an injured CJ Bott. As Man city was an unchanged team that drew to Everton 1-1, however, Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood were both fit enough to be back on the bench.
With the foxes unbeaten on home soil since November, it was set up to be an exciting match–up between both teams. Leicester turned up with a game plan and executed it well, limiting the oppositions chances outside the box, while looking to create chances of our own on the break Man City looked to pile the pressure early on as Kerstin Casparij fired a cross towards the head of Kerolin Nicoli that lopped into Janina Leitzig’s hands. The tempo was turned to the max when city created another big chance in the 15th minute. As the Leicester defenders struggled to clear the ball as Casparij with a clear sight of goal. However, the Dutch defender volleyed it over the bar on the turn.
At the other end, Yuka Momiki went close for the foxes when she cut inside and attempted to find the corner but her shot trickled past the post. The excitement then turned to Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood as they went to warm up down the touchline much to the citizens delight.
