Marie Hӧbinger is an Austrian forward/midfielder who currently plays in the Barclays Women’s Super League for Liverpool FC. She was born on 1st July 2001 and also previously played for FC Zürich where she won two Swiss Women's Super League titles and the Swiss Women’s Cup. Here’s everything you need to know about Marie.

Life at Liverpool: She signed for the Reds in July 2023; she made her first appearance for the Reds on 1st October 2023 in a 1-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates. Just a week later, she scored her first goal during her home debut, helping the team to a 2-0 victory against Aston Villa. In recent months, January 2025, Marie has extended her contract. Hӧbinger wears the number #14 for her club. On 1st May 2024, Höbinger made WSL history by becoming the first player ever to assist three goals from corners in one game, during a wild 4-3 win over the team that went on to be champions – Chelsea.


Her Austrian International side: Höbinger made her senior debut for the Austria women’s national team on 8th November 2019 in a UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 qualifier. It was a solid 3–0 win away to North Macedonia, where she came off the bench in the 82nd minute to replace Lisa Makas. She went on to score her first international goal on 23rd February 2021, netting the winner in a tight 1–0 victory at home against Slovakia. Since then, she’s become a regular name in the Austrian lineup, bringing creativity and calmness to the midfield. In 2022, Höbinger was also part of the squad that represented Austria at the UEFA Women’s Euros. With her growing club success, like that standout performance against Chelsea, she’s continuing to cement her place as a key figure for Austria on the international stage.


With a growing reputation in the Women’s Super League and a key role in the Austrian national team, Marie Höbinger is quickly becoming a standout name in European football. Whether she’s delivering pinpoint set pieces, controlling the tempo in midfield, or stepping up in big moments, her presence on the pitch is undeniable. Still just in the early stages of her career, there is plenty more to come  and if her current form is anything to go by, she is only just getting started.
