Women’s football in Spain has a big background. It’s currently governed by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The first known women’s teams in Spain were founded in Barcelona in 1914. In 2019, the Spanish FA committed to spending $20 Million in the area of women’s football which helped the upbringing of the game and made it to what it is today.

The team is made up of slick passing, ruthless control and a squad stacked with talent from top to bottom. They’re unstoppable and fast. Spain is currently at the top of their group (Group B) in the euros and have made it through to the quarter-finals where they will face host nations, Switzerland.

A key standout player to look out for in the rest of the tournament would be Esther González (whom I mentioned earlier). She's a top goal-scorer so far for Spain. Esther has natural finishes and sharp movement within the box, ready to score. We’ve seen goals from her so far against Portugal, Belgium and Italy. Hopefully she’s got more to come as we head into the quarter finals.

The euros has been another tournament where Spain can show off their skills and flare. They’ve got a passing accuracy of 89.67% and possession of 69%. Isn’t that incredible?

Spain don’t need hype — their football speaks for itself. Clinical, confident, and built to go deep.
