Wales are one of only two teams of WEURO 2025 that have never qualified for a major tournament before. So, what does this mean for them? Well, it can help them grow as a team and grow their fan base.

In the UEFA Nations League, they are currently in group A4 and stand last at fourth place in their group. Out of four games they have lost three and drawn one. They are in group D along with France, England and the Netherlands.

They have key players back such a Sophie Ingle who sustained an ACL injury in September of last year. There squad is made up with a lot of players who come from smaller lower league teams with only a few players currently playing in the WSL. Aside from that, they have some very experienced players such as Jess Fishlock who currently plays in the NWSL for Seattle Reagin. She has experience playing in multiple countries that can help add experience to the Welsh squad. She has 162 caps and 47 goals ahead of this campaign.

The wales captain Angharad James, who was appointed captain after Sophie Ingle stepped down in April 2024, she is a well experienced player who has played in the WSL and NWSL, where she currently plays for Seattle reign. Like most teams, Wales are quite strong if they are playing against a team with the same technical abilities as them however when having to play against a stronger and more experienced team they start to lose a lot of confidence. The team was formed in 1993, however there was an independent women’s team that played matches from 1973 but wasn’t affiliated with the football association of wales (FAW) until 1993.
