Tottenham Hotspur announced that Jamaican midfielder, Drew Spence has signed a long-term deal with the club.

Spence joined the North London side in June of 2022, from Chelsea. Since joining, Drew Spence has made a total of 75 appearances for the Lilywhite’s, scoring 10 in those matches.

On arrival to North London, Drew Spence made an immediate impact, as she scored a goal on her competitive debut for the club in a 2-1 win over Leicester City in the 2022/23 season.

Drew Spence is known for holding the midfield, and contributing on the attack. Spence is usually difficult to defend against and is a force to be reckoned with, in the Spurs squad.

On signing a new deal with the club, “I’m really happy, I feel so comfortable here at the club and I can see where it’s progressing to. I can see that progression and it shows in our results so far,” Spence said.

At the beginning of the season, Tottenham Hotspur brought new Head Coach in, Martin Ho. Tottenham Hotspur have been exciting to watch under Ho, and the club currently stands at 5th in the table, on level points with rivals, Arsenal.

Martin Ho has been thrilled with Spence’s recent performances, “Drew has fully earned this contract.. She leads by example every single day. Her work ethic is unwavering, her competitiveness is infectious, and her willingness to take responsibility has become a benchmark for others.”

Drew Spence is a key part to the Jamaican set-up, having featured in the 2023 Women’s World Cup Squad in Australia and New Zealand. She helped The Reggae Girlz to reach the knockout stages for the first time. To date, Spence has 19 international caps for the side, and has featured on the scoresheet twice.

Spence is a player that every team should have their eye out for, as she continues to make her mark in the midfield, and is becoming a key player in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Drew’s next fixture for Tottenham Hotspur is an away trip to Manchester as they take on The Red Devils, and she will hope to feature in the WSL clash.
