On 25th November, Portsmouth midfielder, Ella Rutherford and her partner GK Barry, who is a social media influencer, hosted the Subway League Cup draw on BarclaysWSL TikTok.

The draw saw the following teams set to face each other in the quarter-finals; Liverpool V Chelsea, Crystal Palace V Arsenal, Manchester United V Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham V Manchester City.
However, the problem lies following a ball being taken out by GK Barry, and then placed back into the bag after she saw it. The influencer then proceeded to pull out another ball – stating it was the same ball she had previously picked. The adjudicator overlooking the draw also confirmed it was the same ball she had picked up. Had the ball not been the same, the draw would’ve been stopped and restarted from the beginning.
A club in the draw has requested the footage of the draw, but all parties involved are yet to make a statement on the matter.
The problem continued to grow when GK Barry made a series of jokes. During this live draw, GK Barry pulled out Tottenham Hotspurs ball and continued to sing “What do we think of Tottenham?” – which is an anti-Spurs chant typically sung by Arsenal fans. Barclays WSL have confirmed they have apologised to Tottenham Hotspur.
Due to the controversy of the draw, fans are now questioning the professionalism and legitimacy of the draw. Barclays WSL have apologised for the draw, however the question lies on whether they will redraw the sides.
