Femke Bastiaen makes her debut for Belgium’s women team.

In the friendly match of Finland against The Belgian Red Flames, the 24-year old goalkeeper Femke Bastiaen made her official debut for the Flames in their 1-1 draw against Finland.
During Bastiaen her debut, she made some important saves and played an important role in this draw. Since Bastiaen got her first call-up for the national team back in February 2022, this moment was a big dream. She missed out on the 2022 Euro’s, but in October 2024 she came back in the squad. And on the 1st of December 2025, she made her first official minutes for the team in their 1-1 draw against Finland.
Bastiaen was already active in the U19 and U23 teams from Belgium. During her period in the U19, she played important games during the U19-championship. Bastiaen didn’t play that long in the U23. After she played one match in the U23, she already got called up for the first team.
Bastiaen also made an impression at different clubs. Her professional career started at KAA Genk, K. Kontich FC. After she played for K. Kontich FC, the Belgian youth-international made the step to PSV in The Netherlands, where she also got her first callup for the flames. At the beginning of the 2024-2025 season Bastiaen made the step to Utrecht. After Bastiaen joined in the summer of 2024, she became a key-player in FC Utrecht their women’s team with 8 clean sheets, won player of the year from Utrecht women’s team, got nominated for ‘Azerion Vrouwen Eredivisie Speler van het jaar 2024/2025’ and she was part of the Dutch League their best XI.
