The UK has officially submitted their joint bid to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup. It is set to believe that they are currently the only bidders for the competition in 10 years time. The deadline for submitting bids, was Friday, and as time goes on, they look to be the only bidders.

England held the memorable home-tournament for the Euros back in 2022, where England won the competition, creating history for the nation. However, this World Cup, has been predicted to be eight times bigger than the Euro2022 competition, whilst generating 4.5million tickets, with an estimating TV audience of 3.5billion – bigger than any Women’s World Cup tournament.
The UK have also put forward a total of 22-stadiums, including Manchester United’s new 100,000 seater stadium plan. Manchester United have recently confirmed that their stadium plan, will be built in time for the competition. FIFA will select 16 of those stadiums, if the bid is successful. Birmingham City’s new £1.2bn, 62,000 seater stadium was also named. Even with these outstanding stadiums, Wrexham, Chelsea and Northern Irelands’ Windsor Park are also amongst those stadiums listed.
The UK are hoping to build on the success of Euro2022, which saw a sold-out Wembley stadium for the final against Germany.
The tournament will be contested by 48-teams over 39 days, with 104 matches set to be played. Following 48 training sites, 82 venue specific training sites and a grand total of 32 FIFA Fan Festival sites have been proposed.
Despite being the only bidders so far, the successful bid is set to be announced at the FIFA Congress meeting in Vancouver, Canada in April 2026.
This bid will change football in the UK, and provided the UK are rewarded with the successful bid, this could be the biggest tournament women’s football have seen so far.
